Educators Join the Fray – Tester Training for Undergraduates

Universities need to pitch in to help meet the industry need for test practitioners. This paper describes efforts to expose undergraduate students to the practice and principles of software testing. Unfortunately, testing is virtually absent from the undergraduate curriculum. The goals of this effort are threefold: (1) to give students hands-on experience in the fundamentals of testing; (2) to give students a quality-centric value system (attitude towards testing/quality); and (3) to integrate testing into the undergraduate curriculum. We describe past and ongoing activities aimed at achieving these goals.
